Netperf benchmarks of FreeBSD versus Solaris (See related posts)

{Disclaimer: these were with FreeBSD 5. FreeBSD 6 doesn't seem to have the same issues}

Netperf server running on yumi.textdrive.com (solaris nevada build) and comox.textdrive.com (freebsd 5.4).

Tested from emi.textdrive.com (solaris) and pacific.textdrive.com (freebsd)

Restricted to one 3.2 Ghz Intel Xeon CPU

Representative numbers below and maximum of a gigabit is 128MB/sec

Also done with file sizes of 6400 and 64000 with insignificant differences

I would be curious as to exactly what you tuned on FreeBSD...were you just twiddling tcp sysctl's? increasing sbufs, KVA Pages ... I want to try and track down exactly what you did and what could have been causing such poor performance..

this was w/ solaris 11 & freebsd 5.x, yeah?

i would like to see the same test run against freebsd 6 w/ PAE and ULE -- otherwise this info is basically useless to anyone running a current freebsd...

store the locale, the locale is the same "across" the application and not for a user session. This means the locales will switch arbitrarily based on who clicks on which language. Ereccion
